About our special guest-
Jonathan Ivins is President and a Director at Meridian Title Company. Beginning his career in the Title and Escrow industry in 1998, Jon has served in various positions from Courier to Licensed Title Searcher and Examiner, Policy Recorder and as a Licensed Escrow Officer. Jon complements his Title and Escrow background with his studies at the University of Utah and can speak Spanish fluently from his time spent in Chile. Before his time at Meridian, Jon founded an innovative venture to assist real estate professionals, and at one time, was a licensed real estate agent himself. Jon is President Emeritus of the Utah Land Title Association and is esteemed for his involvement in advocating for legislation that promotes our local real estate and title insurance industries.
Born and raised in Davis County, Jon and his wife are raising their four beautiful children there as well. Once in pursuit of a Professional Golf Management career with the PGA, Jon has an insatiable love of golf and is well on his way to his personal goal of golfing every course in the State of Utah. Having a clear love of the outdoors, Jon also enjoys skiing, mountain biking, and boating, and has incurred a significant injury participating in each one. At any given moment, Jon and his family are planning their next domestic or abroad vacation, that fulfills their love of travelling together.
What’s a Ron? – The purpose of this class is to discuss Remote Online Notarization (RON). The adoption of legislation in the state of Utah as well as on a national level have changed the ability for virtual signings to happen. This course reviews the variations of RONs and applications in real estate transactions and the process of a RON signing. Understanding appropriate practices of this technology will help Real Estate Agents adapt to effects of the digital age in real estate transactions. This is a 1-hour Non-Core Continuing Education Course.
Wire Fraud Awareness – Wire Fraud has been and is increasingly rampant in the Real Estate world. This class discusses different types of fraud and statistics. Real-world examples of this fraud are provided. Techniques for avoiding, identifying and stopping fraud are offered for agents and in turn, for them to provide to their clients. The objective of this class is to help spread the work about wire fraud and to help educate Real Estate Agents and help them educate consumers. This is a 1-hour Core Continuing Education Course.
