Mortgage Lender in San Diego, CA | Jumbo, DSCR & SaveSmart Loans
Danny Drysdale is a San Diego mortgage lender and Intercap Lending branch manager specializing in Jumbo, SaveSmart, DSCR, Bank Statement, Asset Utilization and Condo loans for buyers and investors in La Jolla, UTC, Clairemont, Bay Park and coastal San Diego.
I’ve been in real estate for over 20 years, originating mortgages since 2012, and San Diego has been my market for more than a decade. It’s where I live, where my family is, and where I do my best work. My focus is the coastal and urban corridor, La Jolla, UTC, Clairemont, Bay Park, Pacific Beach, Little Italy, and Downtown, where most purchases fall into Jumbo and Conventional territory. If you are buying in that range, this is where I spend my time.
Through our Intercap Lending branch in Mission Valley, our team has funded over $1 billion in loans. That production is not something I lead with to impress you. I lead with it because it means I have seen nearly every deal structure, complication, and timeline pressure this market produces. When something comes up mid-transaction, and in San Diego it usually does, you want a lender who has been there before.
Realtors who send me their buyers do it because I communicate. Not just at the beginning and end of a transaction, but through every step of escrow. I know how competitive the La Jolla and UTC markets are. A weak pre-approval or a lender who goes quiet during underwriting can cost an agent a deal they earned. That does not happen here. Sure, I close Conventional, VA, and FHA loans, and I can tell you quickly which product fits your buyer and why.
Loan programs I specialize in:
- Jumbo Loans: for San Diego homes above the $1,104,000 conforming limit (2026), including most La Jolla purchases.
- SaveSmart: a mortgage line of credit linked to a checking account, where deposits reduce your balance daily.
- DSCR Loans: qualify an investment property on its rent, not your tax returns, including 5–9 unit multi-family.
- Bank Statement Loans: for self-employed buyers who qualify with bank statements instead of tax returns.
- Asset Utilization Loans: qualify on your assets instead of a paycheck, for retirees and high-net-worth buyers.
- Condo Loans: including reviewing the HOA and building approval before you write an offer.
I got into real estate right out of high school and moved into mortgage lending in 2012. When my wife Stefanie and I bought our first home together, it changed how I thought about this work. Homeownership gave us the ability to pay off debt, build equity, and eventually invest in additional properties. That kind of financial strategy is what I try to give every client I work with. I want to understand what you are trying to build, not just close your loan.
I was born in Salt Lake City and chose San Diego. There is a difference between living here and loving it here. I wanted to do more than just visit; I want my sons to grow up near the ocean. We have two dogs. When I am not working, I am usually at the beach or watching the Bills find new ways to break my heart. If you are buying in San Diego, I would like to be part of that conversation.
